December 10, 2012 - Tobacco Road Basketball League (TRBL)
Cary Invasion News Release

Mark Janas, owner and general partner of the Cary Invasion Professional Basketball Organization, is pleased to announce Doc Thorne has been named the new General Manager of the team. In his new capacity Thorne will be responsible for solidifying old and creating new sponsor relationships, implementing vendor opportunities, enhancing fan enjoyment and participation, and team visioning.

"With Doc on board, I think our team is in a position to achieve great things this year," said Janas. "With most of our highly-talented players and staff expected to return, and now Doc adding a new dimension to our front office, our organization is situated to be stronger than ever."

The Cary Invasion won their league championship during their first year of play, but fell short of a repeat last year in the championship game against the Prime Time Players from Fort Mill, SC. They are a member of the 11-team Tobacco Road Basketball League ( www.trblproball.com ) consisting of minor league teams from Wilmington, Greensboro, Charlotte, Spartanburg SC and other locations. The team begins its third season of play late spring in Downtown Cary's Herb Young Center, also known as "˜Area 51'.

"My intention is to help build this team into a first-class sports organization," Thorne said. "A great town deserves a great team. The Invasion has not only demonstrated its ability to be just that during its first two-years of play, but is poised to establish itself as Cary's top family-oriented sports entertainment venue. I'm excited to be a part of it."
