Thomas Vanek Returns for Stampede Home Opener

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Stampede has officially announced the first date of the team's 25th Anniversary Promotional Schedule. The Herd's Home Opener is set for October 7 at 6:05 p.m. at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center when the Herd host the Waterloo Black Hawks. Click here to purchase your tickets now!
With this season being the 25th year of the Stampede, the team has a lot planned for the Home Opener. The club is excited to announce that the club's all-time leading scorer, Thomas Vanek, will return to Sioux Falls. The Herd will honor Vanek with a special pre-game ceremony in which his number will be retired, making him the first ever player in franchise history to have his number retired. Vanek played for the Stampede from 1999-2002 and holds team records for most goals (46) and points (91) in a season and most career goals (80) and points (153). He went on to win a national championship at the University of Minnesota and played 14 years in the National Hockey League.
The Home Opener will begin with a tailgate party from 3:30 pm until doors open at 5 p.m. The first 1,000 kids through the doors (13 and under) will receive a free replica Thomas Vanek jersey to help commemorate the night. Also in the main concourse, a scavenger hunt, Mr. Twister, a photo booth, and much more! Finally, fans can expect an enhanced game night production experience which will include special introductions of the entire 2023-24 Stampede team. An exact time line of events for the night will be made available in the coming weeks.
Tickets for the Home Opener are on sale now through the Stampede website, Ticketmaster, and the KELOLAND Box Office. Additional promotional nights are set to be announced by the team in the coming days, with tickets for those games also going on sale at the time of the announcement.
