Thirsty Thursday kicks off Championship Series; Flag Giveaway also on Thursday; If necessary, Game 3

DANVILLE, VA - The Appalachian League Championship Series comes to Danville Thursday night (Sept. 3) and the Braves will celebrate with their fifth straight Thirsty Thursday. The D-Braves will host the Elizabethton Twins for Game 2 Thursday night at 7 p.m. If necessary, Game 3 will take place at 7 p.m. Friday (Sept. 4). Gates open at 6 p.m. for both games.

On Thirsty Thursday, the Braves will offer select 14 oz. beer and fountain soda at discounted prices. The club will also give away Braves Rally Flags to the first 400 fans in attendance for Game 2 on Thursday night. So come to the park when the gates open at 6 p.m., get your flag, grab a cold beverage and a hot dog and watch the Braves compete for their second Appy League title.

Should the series require a deciding Game 3, the Braves and Twins would square off Friday night at 7 p.m. with the Appy League title hanging in the balance.

The Braves finish the regular season with a final game at Kingsport tonight at 7 p.m. before they head to Elizabethton Wednesday at 7 p.m. to take on the Twins in Game 1 of the Championship Series. The Braves will send left-hander Brett Oberholtzer (6-2, 2.01 ERA) to the hill for Game 1. D-Braves play-by-play voice Nick Pierce will have the call from Elizabethton on WMNA 106.3 FM and on the station's website, www.espninva.com.
