Third Quarter Run Pushes Cary Past Queen City

June 1, 2012 - Tobacco Road Basketball League (TRBL)
Cary Invasion News Release

Cary, NC: The Queen City Express arrived in Cary on Friday night with lightning-fast back court play and still riding high after an impressive win at Wilmington one week earlier. The visitors started out the game very slowly and allowed Cary to mount a 22-point lead in the first quarter. But the complacent Invasion squad would give it nearly all back in the second by allowing guard penetration and turning the ball over. The Express cut the lead to just 2 points by late in the half. Halftime score was Cary 60, Queen City 53. The second half started out just like the first with the home team putting a major run together right out of the locker room. The lead grew again to 20+ points, and this time it was too much to overcome. Final score was Cary 118, Queen City 102. Invasion Forward Jonathan Moore (NCCU) had 22 points, and Invasion guard Mike Smith (Shaw) added 19 points. Queen City was led by Ramar Cuthbertson who had a game-high 30 points. The Invasion (9-2) victory sets up a game tomorrow night in South Carolina vs. the PrimeTime Players (9-1) that will determine the 2012 TRBL Point Series Champion and the top seed in the TRBL tournament.
