Central Valley Coyotes News Release
Editors Note: Coyotes first-year defensive specialist VonKeith Spencer came to Central Valley as a free-agent after sitting last season out. Spencer last played in Rochester in 2002, leading the Brigade in tackles with 57, (47-solo) and 8 interceptions to go along with his 15 pass deflections.
This season Spencer is looking to rise back to the top as a feature defensive specialist in the af2. He currently leads the team in interceptions with 5 and tackles with 38. Spencer is also tied for 4th in the af2 in interceptions. His comments on the Coyotes season will appear regularly on centralvalleycoyotes.com.

Hawaii got the best of us last weekend and we need to bounce back this week against Bakersfield. I don't think the reason we lost was because a lack of effort, but rather a lot of mental mistakes. We had some blown coverage's and 10 penalties on the night, you can't expect to win games like that.
We have been reviewed last weeks tape and have been studying the Bakersfield tape all week long to make the proper adjustments. Their a very good team and have many offensive threats. Chad Elliott and Eric Mahanke are one of the best one-two combos in the league. I need to lock Mahanke down whenever I get the opportunity and make some big plays
Obviously we haven't been having the season we had hoped for at the beginning of training camp, but the season is not over. We don't have any quitters on this team and we will all fight game in and game out. It's about respect in the af2, we began this season with a lot of rookies but they have all matured into some good ball players. I know I'm going to go out there and play hard and try to make some plays to help out my team.
We're going to face a good quarterback this week in Chad Elliott, but every quarterback in this division is good. Each quarterback has three years of the deuce under there belt, so you know they know this game inside and out. I think if we can get pressure on him and force him to make a bad pass then maybe we can create some turnovers. I'm ready to get back on that interception board again beginning with this week.
There have been some new people joining our squad in recent weeks. Kendall Edwards joined our secondary and I think he fits into what we are trying to do defensively. Then with a guy like Al Noga, who has played in the NFL and the AFL joining your squad, that also boosts up your depth chart. I've been watching him a little bit this week and let me tell you he hasn't lost a step. With Al and Ricky coming off the edges on defense, all I have to say is watch out.
I feel very confident going down to Bakersfield, we have a bunch of guys in this locker room including myself who are hungry for a win. We just have to play hard, stay mentally focused and the rest will take care of itself. We're going to try and knock off as many teams as possible as we end this regular season.
I'm not at all worried about our team, we're a family, we'll ride through the losses together and we'll ride through the wins together.
