Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

FISHKILL, N.Y. (June 23, 2009) - The Renegades lose the first road game of the season, 3-7, to the Brooklyn Cyclones. The bright light for the Renegades was both righty Jeffrey Cinadr and southpaw Daniel Angel who made their professional debuts at KeySpan Park Tuesday night combining to throw three innings of one-hit, one-run baseball.

For the first time this season the Renegades failed to score first, surrendering two runs to the Cyclones in the home half of the first. Renegades starter Glenn Gibson retired the first batter he saw, striking out the Cyclones lead-off batter John Servidio. With one out Gibson had trouble finding the strike zone loading the bases on back-to-back walks.

With the base loaded Gibson walked Ralph Henriquez plating the first run of the game. Luis Rivera came up next hitting a RBI single to left field giving the Cyclones an early lead in the bottom of the first, 2-0.

Brooklyn's offense continued to produce, etching another run in the second. Gibson started the inning off with a walk to Luis Nieves and Servidio was hit by a pitch leaving runners at first and second. During the next at-bat Gibson let a pitch get away from him advancing runners to both second and third. Matt Bouchard took advantage of the runner on third recording a sacrifice fly to Dustin Biell in left field bringing the score to 3-0, in favor of the Cyclones.

After reaching 60 pitches in two innings Gibson was taken out of the game to make way for right-handed Jordi Amargos to make his 2009 debut. Gibson hurled two innings allowing two runs to cross home on three hits, while walking six and striking out one.

The Renegades offense was unable to figure out Brandon Moore, the Cyclones right-handed starter. Moore never let a Renegade reach third during his seven innings of play and gave up just four hits to Renegades batters.

In the bottom of the fifth the Cyclones gave their pitching staff some more breathing room plating two more runs. With bases loaded and Amargos on the mound Alexander Gregory hit a two-RBI double allowing two runs to cross home to increase the Cyclones lead to 5-0.

Heading into the eighth inning trailing 7-0, the Renegades offense was able to break through the wall that was the Cyclones Moore. Wesley Wrenn came into the game in the top of the eighth in relief of starter Moore. Acosta recorded his first hit of the game with an infield single up the middle fielded by the shortstop. Bennett Davis followed the single with a triple to the gap in right field allowing Acosta to cross home etching the Renegades first run of the game. Bennett scored after the next at-bat on a Murrill groundout to the second basemen to bring the score to 7-2.

The Renegades plated one more run in the top of the ninth to bring the score to its final 3-7. The Renegades starter Glenn Gibson recorded his first loss of the season hurling two innings of three-hit, two-run baseball. The Cyclones starter, Brandon Moore, earned his first win as he kept the Renegades scoreless through seven innings and only allowed four hits.

The Renegades return home Wednesday night to close out the three-game series against the division rival Brooklyn Cyclones. Southpaw Jim Fuller will be taking the ball for the Cyclones and right-handed Aaron Dott will get the start for the Renegades. First pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
