The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (6-5) seek revenge on the Corpus Christi Sharks (2-9) on Saturday, June 20th, at the Cox Convention Center. Kickoff is set for 7:05 pm CST.
The Yard Dawgz got their second straight win with a victory over the Milwaukee Iron, 63-28 last Saturday night. Oklahoma City's defense was the difference in the game, forcing 7 sacks and 7 turnovers, including 4 interceptions. DB Fred Shaw had three interceptions in the win, tying a franchise single game record. These interceptions also set new franchise single season (7) and career (11) interception records. Shaw's remarkable game earned him the Aaron's Defensive Player of the Game.
This weekend's matchup against Corpus Christi will be a revenge game for Oklahoma City, as the Sharks beat the Dawgz in week 9, 65-62. In the game, the Sharks scored on every offensive possession, putting up 65 points and totaling 309 yards of offense. In the Dawgz' last two games, the defense has returned to form, holding their opponents to an average of 200 yards of total offense and 41 points per game. Oklahoma City looks to maintain that same intensity against a Corpus Christi team that has averaged just over 45 ppg and 250 ypg since their last meeting.
"This game against Corpus Christi is the most important game of the season," said Head Coach Sparky McEwen. "We'll need a full team effort from everyone on offense, defense, and special teams."
