On Sci-Fi Night at Rupp Arena the Kentucky Horsemen put on a scoring clinic as they defeated the Quad City Steamwheelers 75-56. The Horsemen improved their record to (6-5) while Quad City fell to (4-7).

Quad City was led by quarterback Brian Zbydniewski who threw for 369 yards and seven touchdowns. Receiver Jesse Schmidt had another great night for the Steamwheelers bringing in nine catches for 174 yards and six touchdowns.
Kentucky took an early 14-0 lead with an 11 yard touchdown pass from Jared Lorenzen to John Cooper on the first drive of the game, which was followed by a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Dominic Ross on the ensuing kickoff.
Quad City cut the lead in half with a 20 yard touchdown pass from Brian Zbydniewski to Jesse Schmidt on their first drive. Demetrius Forney's one yard touchdown run ended the first quarter scoring, and put the Horsemen up 21-7.
Early in the second quarter, Terrance Freeney brought Quad City within seven on a two yard touchdown run. The Horsemen answered right back with a 43 yard touchdown pass, Justin Rascati's strike to Harry Lewis on the first play of the drive making the score 28-14. After a two yard touchdown pass from Zbydniewski to Deonte Sharp, William Mulder took the ensuing kickoff to the house putting Kentucky back on top by 14 and brought the score to 35-21.
After a Quad City turnover on downs, newly acquired former University of Kentucky receiver Quentin McCord capitalized with a three yard touchdown run extending the Horsemen lead to 42-21. Zbydniewski and Lorenzen each added another touchdown pass and at halftime, Kentucky led Quad City 49-28.
Quad City started the third quarter fast with a 37 yard bomb from Zbydniewski to Jesse Schmidt, his third receiving touchdown of the night. Harry Lewis quickly answered with his third touchdown grab of the night on a 34 yard reception from Lorenzen, bringing the score to 56-35 Horsemen. After Schmidt's fourth touchdown reception brought Quad City within 14, Lorenzen found John Cooper in the end zone for the second time and increased the Horsemen lead to 62-42. Near the end of the third quarter, Kentucky's duo of quarterbacks hooked up as Lorenzen connected with Rascati for a 10 yard touchdown pass.
Quad City's Jesse Schmidt started the fourth quarter scoring with his fifth receiving touchdown of the night, but the Horsemen answered again with Lorenzen finding Quentin McCord for his first receiving touchdown as a member of the Horsemen on a nine yard strike from Justin Rascati. Jesse Schmidt's sixth touchdown catch of the night was not enough and Kentucky prevailed 75-56.
The Horsemen return to action next Saturday as they take on division leading South Georgia at Rupp Arena. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and will be carried live on Supertalk 96.1 with Gary Ball and Randy Wilson.
