Milwaukee Wave News Release
Franklin, Wisconsin - Milwaukee Wave owner Mike Zimmerman has announced that the team has a new lease agreement with Panther Arena, and the Wave will return to action for the 2021-22 season.
The Milwaukee Wave, who were the MASL reigning champions before having to forego last season due to COVID-19 restrictions, will return with the core of their championship team intact, including Ian Bennett, Marcio Leite, Luan Olivera, Andre Hayne, Josh Lemos, Daniel Chamale, Angel Curiel, and Stuart Grable.
The Wave were poised to defend their 2018-19 championship title before the 2019-20 season ended early due to the emergence of COVID. They return with a head of steam and something to prove.
"Thanks to a new one-year lease agreement with Panther Arena, we can get back on the turf," noted Milwaukee Wave owner Mike Zimmerman. "I think our entire organization looks at this season as a chance to defend our championship after an unforeseen interruption."
The team has used the time off to "tune up" the franchise. The Wave now has a new home training center at the Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital (MOSH) Performance Center located at the Rock Sports Complex in Franklin, WI, and will work with EXOS Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine and MOSH as their training and recovery partners.
"This was a long time in the making, and the pieces are all coming together," noted Zimmerman.
The Wave's home opener is scheduled for Saturday, December 18th at 6:05 PM versus the Baltimore Blast. Our fan favorite New Year's Eve game will start at 3:05 PM.
Wave Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero is looking forward to getting his team on the field, "Our coaching staff and players are very excited to be back playing at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in front of the best fans in the MASL!"
