The Miami FC Hits the Road to take on Indy Eleven
MIAMI -Â The Miami FC hits the road for the final stretch of the 2017 season, kicking off the trip against Indy Eleven, Saturday, October 14 at 3 p.m. Fans can watch all the action live on The CW South Florida, ESPN 3 or Eleven Sports Network.
Climbing to the Top
First place is a moniker that the Miami FC has grown used to. After opening 2017 with a 1-2-1 record, the Orange and Blue would go on a nine-match unbeaten streak and has never looked back.
An extra time win in Puerto Rico on April 29 lifted the Miami FC into first place in the Spring Season Standings, kicking off a now 23-week reign at the top of the standings.
The Miami FC would rip off another huge nine-match winning streak in in the Fall Season, cementing its hold on first place in the Combined Standings.
All Signs Point to Yes
The Miami FC and Indy Eleven have faced off six times, with the Orange and Blue leading the series 4-1-1.
The Miami FC is undefeated against Indy in three 2017 clashes, winning all three matchups and outscoring Indy 8-3.
Indy has been known as a tough team to beat at home, but the Orange and Blue is 2-1 all-time at Michael A. Carroll Stadium, including a 2-0 victory the last time the club was in Indianapolis.
Leading the Pack
The Miami FC continues to run rampant through the NASL with help from its league-best offense and defense.
With 52 goals scored and only 25 allowed, the Orange and Blue sports the best mark in the league in both categories.
Miami has nine more goals than the next-best offense and has allowed five less goals than the next-best defense.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
Miami sports the top offense in the NASL with 52 goals scored. The club's offensive prowess can be attributed to its stellar passing.
Miami FC players occupy four of the top 10 spots for total passes in the NASL, including three in the top five. Hunter Freeman, Mason Trafford and Richie Ryan rank third, fourth and fifth in the NASL with 1501, 1483 and 1463 passes, respectively.
Through 28 matches, Miami FC players have created 290 scoring chances.
The Miami FC midfielders Dylan Mares and Kwadwo Poku have been at the forefront of this offensive explosion. The dynamic midfielders have created 77 scoring chances for the Orange and Blue. Mares ranks fifth in the NASL with 41 chances created while Poku's 36 rank ninth.
As a squad, the Miami FC has attempted 15,027 passes and completed 88% of them, far and away the highest marks in the NASL.
Chávez In Charge
Forward Jaime Chávez has had a stellar Fall Season, carrying the Miami FC's attack.
Since taking the field on August 12, he has been on an absolute tear. Through 11 matches, Chávez has been directly responsible for 13 of the last 15 Miami FC goals. He has netted nine goals in that span, finding the net in six-consecutive matches. Chávez has also tallied three assists during that period.
Players to Watch
Vincenzo Rennella is back in his Spring Season form after a long layoff due to injury.
In his first match back, Rennella netted a goal just 10 minutes into the match, helping secure a draw against the San Francisco Deltas.
In the midst of such an amazing season, Rennella is a strong candidate for the Golden Ball. His 11 goals and five assists both rank second in the NASL.
He has fired 43 shots this season, putting 28 on target and posting a strong 26% goal conversation rate. Rennella has also completed 297 passes and created 25 scoring chances for his teammates.
Dylan Mares brings creativity and dynamism to an already strong Miami FC midfield.
The former Indy Eleven man has been a major factor in the Orange and Blue's success in 2017, leading the team with 41 created scoring chances. Through 25 matches, he has netted six goals and assisted on five others.
His passing and shooting has been strong all season, completing 945 of his 1100 passes and putting nearly 50% of his shots on target.
Mares has also done well to contribute on the defensive end of the game. He has made 12 key clearances, made 26 interceptions and won 84 duels in the midfield.
