A two-game road trip through New York on Saturday and Jacksonville next Wednesday begins a condensed schedule of five matches in 15 days for the Eddies as teams push for the final berths to the Championship, the NASL's four-team postseason tournament that begins next month on November 4.

The rigours of the schedule have taken a toll up front for the Eddies with strikers Tomi Ameobi and Daryl Fordyce nursing injuries, but a return to fitness for Fordyce is a boost to the attack with Ameobi still dealing with a lower-body injury.

"The squad that's travelling is in good shape, and there's guys itching to play," FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller said. "[Ameobi] we haven't had now for a few weeks but Daryl Fordyce is fit and trained in full this week, so that's another fresh body into the group. Nico Di Biase has trained very well and we know the two young lads [Abraham Dukuly & David Doe] are available as well. The group is in a good place, but we know the difficulties ahead of us."

It's been tough to separate the Eddies and Cosmos over the years after a number of entertaining and even matches, culminating in a 4W-6D-4L record for both sides against one another since their first meeting back in September of 2013. But the Cosmos have only defeated the Eddies once in their past six matches, with the trend of eventful fixtures between the two clubs continuing earlier this season in Brooklyn with a 4-2 win for the Eddies that included three goals and two red cards in the span of 10 minutes.

"We've had some terrific matches against the Cosmos and we played very well in New York coming off a bad loss to Puerto Rico earlier this year," Miller added. "You need to be motivated when playing against the quality of opposition that the Cosmos are, so the game looks after itself because we know if we turn up, we have the players that can cause them problems."

Following the club's two matches on the road, FC Edmonton returns to Clarke Stadium on Saturday, October 21 for their final home match of the season and Girls in Soccer Night II featuring Canadian Women's National Team players & two-time Olympic medalists Desiree Scott & Melissa Tancredi!
