Miami FC News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. -Â The Miami FC faced off against Toronto FC, Wednesday afternoon, in its second preseason friendly of 2017. 22 Players saw the field for the Miami FC as the club continues to prepare for the 2017 season.
Toronto FC was high pressing early on, taking an early lead. TFC's Justin Morrow was able to find the back of the net after Jozy Altidore's shot found the back of the post setting up Morrow for the rebound.
The Miami FC's first chance of the match came soon after. Aaron Dennis opened the Toronto FC defense with a strong run, eventually laying the ball off to Stefano Pinho. Pinho then fired a great shot that found the crossbar. Poku swooped in to gather the rebound but his shot was saved.
Toronto continued to press the Orange and Blue backline, picking up a second goal. Sebastian Giovinco was able to get through the Miami FC defense, slotting his shot into the top right. Giovinco followed his first goal with a converted penalty shot after Tyler Ruthven was called for a foul in the box.
At the half, the Miami FC was down 3-0 to the MLS Cup runner-ups.
The attack of Vincenzo Rennella, Jaime Chavez and Ariel Martinez came out firing on all cylinders at the start of the second half.
Rennella found himself on the break and tried to pick out a streaking Martinez but the pass was just wide.
Newcomer Ryan Herman was tested early in the second half and made a great save on the first shot on goal by TFC.
Unfortunately, Toronto was able to make the score 4-0 after Benoit Cheyrou got on the score sheet.
The Miami FC attack would not let up with Chavez nearly putting the club on the board after he dribbled through the defense and rifling a great shot that barely missed the upper 90.
TFC would wrestle back control of the match, pushing ahead 6-0.
Robert Baggio Kcira would put the Miami FC on the board after finishing a pass from Chavez as time expired.
The Miami FC's preseason schedule continues Sunday in Bradenton, Fla. for a matchup against the Chicago Fire from MLS, before returning home to face Florida Gulf Coast University, Barry University and the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USL. All matches will be free and open to the public.Â
