Orange County Flyers News Release
ST. GEORGE, Utah (May 24, 2010) -- The Orange County Flyers put up at least dozen runs for the third-straight game, defeating the RoadRunners, 12-7, in St. George on Monday to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Flyers got a hit from every spot in the lineup, and rookie shortstop Tyler Keeble collected a double, triple and a pair of RBI. Former Major Leaguer and Fullerton High School alum Keith Ginter blasted his first home run of the season to add an insurance run in the seventh.
Manny Ayala earned the win, pitching three innings in relief of starter Brett Smith. Ayala went 1-2-3 in the fifth and seventh. Bryan Harris pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth to finish the game.
Orange County began the scoring when Julian Benavidez doubled to drive in Steve Boggs and Jimmy Rohan for a 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning.
The three consecutive games of at least 12 runs is a franchise record.
Orange County will send former National League All-Star pitcher Byung-Hyun Kim to the mound on Tuesday as the Flyers and RoadRunners conclude this season-opening four-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05pm Pacific.
