The Generals Go Down in a Two-Game Series to the Cane Cutters
June 11, 2022 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
Victoria Generals News Release
The Generals were looking for revenge after a close loss last night to the Cane Cutters on Free Ticket Night presented by Atzenhoffer at Riverside Stadium. All was promising tonight as the spirits were high in the ballpark for Warriors Weekend Jersey Auction night courtesy of Scherer Kubota.
The Generals started off strong on defense and allowed one run to be scored in comparison to last night's game where the Cane Cutters scored four runs to begin the ball game. The Generals responded with one run of their own off of a passed pitch behind the plate which allowed the centerfielder Brandon Galindo to come home and score. The Catcher for the Generals Angel Mendoza had quite the night behind the plate throwing two people out in the second and third innings. Chase Sanguetti hit his sixth RBI of the season to give the Generals the lead 2-1.
The Cane Cutters managed to gain the lead on the top of the fourth making the score 4-2, but the Generals quickly responded in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sanguinetti got the Generals their second run of the game due to a passed pitch by the Cane Cutters. With two runners on, Samuel Benjamin hit a two-run RBI to get the Generals back into the ball game. Shortly after, Mendoza scored and the Generals took the lead making the score 5-4.
The Cane Cutters managed to come back and take the lead in the sixth and seventh innings where they scored four runs which made the score 9-5, but the Generals were going to finish strong in the bottom of the ninth. It was looking good for the Generals with Adrian Minjares hitting a tw-run RBI to get the Generals back into the ball game. Samuel Tormos followed that up with a sac-fly to bring in another run which brought the score to 9-8 with the General's down by one with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Unfortunately, the Generals comeback was not enough to take a win at home against the Cane Cutters with the final score being 9-8.
Tomorrow night, the Generals will take on the Brazos Valley Bombers at Riverside Stadium with the first pitch being thrown at 7:05 p.m.
