Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC News Release
GREELEY, Colo. - The wait is finally over. After nine matches on the road, in all competitions, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC return home for their first home match in their history. Coming off of a bye week the Hailstorm had the chance to get some rest from their travels and gain another game in hand over the rest of USL League One. It is also the last bye week for the team until the weekend of September 17.
North Carolina FC is a team that the Hailstorm are familiar with, having already played them in Cary on April 30, taking all three points back home with them. The keeper in the last outing was Will Pulisic and it can be expected that he will start again. The cousin of the U.S. Men's National Team star Christian Pulisic has started six of North Carolina's eight matches this season, coming up with 21 saves and one clean sheet in that time.
So far this season there has been no denying Garrett McLaughlin, who is the top scorer entering league play this week. He's tallied six goals on his team-leading ten shots on target. The trio of Jaden Servania, Luis Arriaga, and Christian Young have been the leading chance creators for the club. However, the 20-year-old Servania will not be in attendance for the match as he has been called up by the Puerto Rican National Team for the CONCACAF Nations League's first round of matches.
After keeping a clean sheet last time out Johan Peñaranda is expected to remain in goal for the match. The team has picked up four points in the two matches that Peñaranda has started this season. He has also picked up four saves on five shots faced and made six clearances for his side. Though he is a defender, Arthur Rogers has been one player putting in the work on the offensive end this season. Rogers has been the team's set piece specialist and leads the side in passes per 90 minutes, crosses and long passes. He may be able to help create some magic tomorrow night.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. MDT at Jackson Stadium in Greeley, Colorado. Expect the temperature to be in the 70s at kickoff with 10 mph winds. The game, as with all USL League One games this season, will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC will play its home matches in the 6,500-seat TicketSmarter Stadium at the Future Legends Complex, the premier destination for sports and events in Northern Colorado. Tickets for home matches in the month of June are now available online. June home matches will be played at the University of Northern Colorado's Jackson Stadium.
Opening in 2022, the 118-acre Future Legends Complex will feature two stadiums, multiple baseball diamonds and multi-purpose fields, an indoor sports arena, lodging, and retail; and will host guests for major sports tournaments, events, leagues, and more.
