INSTANT CLASSIC... The Fire's first round playoff game against Quad City was a nail bitter to say the least. The Fire scored a touchdown with just over a minute left to make the score 48-47, but kicker Danny Kight missed the extra point. After Quad City recovered the onside kick the Fire held the Steamwheelers, and got the ball back with three seconds left to set up the dramatic finish. Kight's go ahead field goal attempt missed just left and bounced off of the upright and over the Quad City returns man's head. Fire lineman Derrick Shepard scooped the ball up at the ten and ran it into the end zone to make the final score 53-48 Fire. HEADING OUT WEST... The Fire will now travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take on the Tulsa Talons. The Talons finished the season 13-3 and hold the number one seed in the National Conference. The Fire and Talons have met three times before with Tulsa winning all three. Tulsa is also the defending ArenaCup champions. The game can be heard on 1080-AM WKJK starting at 8:30 Saturday night. The winner will advance to the conference championship game.
LISTEN PARTY... Hey Fire fans come out to Kern's Korner on Bardstown Road Saturday night to listen to the game at 8:30. Once again their will be drink specials; $1.50 Bud and Bud Light and $2.00 mixed drinks!!
STILL IN THE JUNGLE... Tony Stallings again made it through another episode of King of the Jungle 2. Tony the Tiger once again did not have go to the Lion's Pit. At one point during the show Bee, who was the reigning king, said she was probably going to send Tony or Jacob. The Pit ended up coming down to Lang and Jacob with Lang leaving the pit after injuring his thumb. King of the Jungle 2 is on Animal Planet Tuesday night's at 8:00 P.M.
PLAYOFFS, PLAYOFFS, PLAYOFFS... In other ArenaCup playoff action this weekend the Florida Firecats (11-6) will head to Huntsville, AL to take on the Tennessee Valley Vipers (12-4) on Friday night in an American Conference semi-final match game. In the other American Conference game the Cape Fear Wildcats (13-4) will head north to face the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers (13-3) on Saturday night. On the National Conference side of the bracket the Peoria Pirates (10-7) will head west to take Bakersfield Blitz (11-5) on Saturday night in the other conference semi-final game.
