Richmond RiverDogs News Release

Richmond, VA - As progress continues in the construction of the new Richmond RiverDogs website, www.riverdogsuhl.com, the Dogs would like to take this opportunity to introduce everyone to the revised 2005-2006 schedule. It can be found in the attached Word document and is also available on the web at the official site of the United Hockey League, www.theuhl.com.

At a glace, Richmond is slated to play 38 of its 76 scheduled contests in front of the home crowd at the Richmond Coliseum. Plus, the Dogs will play a pair of tune-up games against the new Valley Vipers of Roanoke at Skate Nation on Broad Street. The matches are being dubbed as the "Battle on Broad Street."

"It would be tough to believe that we won't become instant rivals with the Roanoke franchise," said Head Coach and General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. "After all, we play 78 games, with the pre-season, and 20 of them are against those guys right down the road."

In addition to Roanoke, Richmond plays the bulk of its games against fellow Eastern-division foes, the Adirondack Frostbite, Danbury Trashers, and Elmira Jackals. In fact, the RiverDogs do not play a game against a squad outside of the East until they host the Fort Wayne Komets at the Coliseum on December 10th. That contest is one of just four against teams from the Central and Western divisions before the New Year.

"Games within the division are incredibly important," Nichols stated. "You have to remember that the top two teams from each division make the playoffs. We'll be eager to face different teams after a while. But we'll take care of them when the time comes. There's plenty to do before a Midwest swing."

Richmond opens its pre-season on October 14th with back-to-back games against new rival Roanoke. As mentioned, the battles taking place in the 700-seat Skate Nation on the 14th and 15th are being tabbed as the "Battle on Broad Street!" The regular season commences on Friday, October 21st, as the RiverDogs host the Frostbite at the Richmond Coliseum. Individual game tickets for all Richmond home games will be available for purchase beginning in early-October. We will keep you updated with all developments regarding ticket sales as we draw closer to the season. Season tickets, FlexPaks, birthday parties and group packages are available through the RiverDogs' office. For more information on tickets or upcoming games, please call our office at 804-225-PUCK (7825).

PLEASE NOTE: Our website is currently under construction as plans for a new site are in development. The new address will be www.riverdogsuhl.com. We hope to have this functional within the next few weeks and sincerely appreciate your patience throughout this process.
