HARLINGEN, Texas- The Edinburg Coyotes (19-26) swept the series from the Harlingen WhiteWings (15-30) as they won 12-4 Saturday night at Harlingen Field. John Maschino got his second win of the season (2-3) after throwing six and 2/3 innings and allowing four runs on six hits and striking out seven. The Coyotes extended their lead in the top of the fourth inning. After back-to-back singles by Eric Gonzalez and Gary Roche, Daryl Jones brought them in to score with a two run double to deep left field which made the score 5-1.

After two outs in the inning, Wood and Alex Entrekin hit singles into center field to put runners at first and second. Fermin then hit a two run double to deep left field over Anthony Slagle to extend the Coyote lead to 7-1. The Coyotes added on more runs in the top of the seventh inning after Entrekin walked and Fermin doubled to left field to put runners at second and third. With the infield in, Gonzalez hit a line drive to right field to score two runs and make the score 9-1. The WhiteWings added to their run total in the bottom of the seventh inning. After Carl Johnson brought in a run with a ground out to third, Amadeo Zazueta hit a single to left field to score two runs which made the score 9-4. With a five run lead, the Coyotes added more in the top of the ninth inning. Fermin started the inning with a triple and then he later scored on an RBI single by Roche to center field. They would add two more runs on two more hits to make the score 12-4. Bryan Heaston pitched two perfect innings allowing no hits and striking out four to close out the game for the Coyotes. The Coyotes head to Laredo to open up a three game series against the Laredo Broncos. The Coyotes finished the first half of the season in fifth place four games back of the fourth place Broncos.
