Allen, Texas - Allen Americans front office staff and players will compete in the Cooper's Aerobic Center McKinney sprint triathlon September, 14 TH .

Allen Americans team President Matt Canavan issued the challenge to any Americans player, beat the time of this 40 something year old and you will not be required to participate in 2013-2014 training camp fitness testing. Canavan is so confident that none of the players participating will beat his time he has agreed to carry the Ray Miron Central Hockey League Presidents' Cup Trophy with him through each part of the triathlon. The cup weighs 30 pounds and is 28 inches tall.

"While I am encouraged by the level of participation by our players, staff, Allen Event Center staff and our corporate partners, all Americans fans, season tickets holders and partners are invited to join in on the fun," said Canavan. "It's taken a life of its own as far as a pre season team building exercise"

Americans players that have accepted the Canavan challenge includes; Trevor and Tyler Ludwig, Daryl Bootland, Jon Snowden, Ross Rouleau and Daniel Tretault. Americans front office participants includes former Americans defenseman Erik Adams, Director of Game Entertainment Tom Manning, Director of Corporate Sales Robert Ciccotelli, Senior VP of ticket sales Mike Martin, Sales and Marketing executive Ryan Marko, Sales and marketing executive Robert Wells as well as Director of graphic design Jay Ressler. The interest didn't stop there as two Allen Event Center employees joining in on the fun with both Kelly Dennis and Peter Kitler committing to the event. The Ice Angels will also be competing in the triathlon and be on hand to cheer on all participants.

"I'm right around 75% nervous and 25% excited about this new experience I'm about to partake in," said Trevor Ludwig. "I have never done any long distance competitions before. I have an open mind when it comes to new adventures and opportunities in my life. I'd like to think that I'll do well, but based off of some of the training I've done for this, I wouldn't put any money on me breaking any records. Mainly I'm just looking forward to having a good time with a few of my teammates and office staff.

There are two confirmed corporate partners participating in the triathlon this weekend, Melanie Tawater a 5 year partner of the Americans and Ice angels and owner of Image Nation Salon and Laurie Ricci with the Coopers Aerobic Center.

"As the Cooper Fitness triathlon coach I have been enjoying seeing the team players and staff visiting our club facilities to train for the Cooper Fall Sprint Triathlon said. I believe that by now, just a week before our event, the participating hockey players realize that the water is a completely different animal once it is not frozen. Sincerely, we are honored to have the Allen Americans Hockey Team organization as a part of our race, having them stepping out of their comfort zone and participating in a triathlon race shows the colors of true champions. They are an example to our community demonstrating that anything is possible . We hope this is not a onetime deal as we would love to have the entire team participating next year (new challenge?)!
