Joliet JackHammers News Release

JOLIET, IL-The Joliet JackHammers will welcome 15 former Bears and Packers players to Silver Cross Field for the first-ever "Budweiser Gridiron on the Diamond" event, (formerly the Budweiser Legends Game), on Saturday, July 28 at 7:05 p.m. at Silver Cross Field. The JackHammers are currently home through July 15 at Silver Cross Field against the Gary SouthShore RailCats.

"Football is so huge here in the Chicagoland and what better rivalry than the Bears and Packers," said Kelly Sufka, the JackHammers Executive Vice President/General Manager. "I think this game should prove to be a very fun and exciting event at Silver Cross Field."

The Bears part of the roster features former "Junkyard Dog" Otis Wilson, the former linebacker who helped anchor the 1985 Bears defense that held 11 opponents to 10 points or less and lead the Bears to a Super Bowl Championship. The roster also highlights former tight end Emory Moorehead, who also played on the 1985 Super Bowl XX Championship Team.

"This is an idea that could not have come to fruition without the help of the NFL Players Association," added Sufka. "We can't thank the NFLPA Retired Players Chicago Chapter for their help in coordinating and making this event a reality!"

The entire roster is as follows: Bears vs. Packers

Bears

Otis Wilson LB 80 - 87

Wendell Davis WR 88 - 93

Maurice Douglass DB 86 - 93

Jim Morrissey LB 85 - 93

Emery Moorehead TE 81 - 88

Brian Glasgow TE 87

Lenny McGill CB 91 - 92

Loose Gravel: The Budweiser special events began in 2003 with the Michelob Ultra Cross Town Legends Game (former Cubs players versus White Sox players- 2003 and 2004). In 2005, Budweiser sponsored the "I-55 Classic" featuring former Cubs players against former Cardinals players. The JackHammers had a different twist at the 2006 Budweiser Legends Game with former American League players taking on former National League players. This is the first time the game has featured former NFL players and the first time the teams have played softball instead of baseball.
