Strong Island Sound News Release

Patchogue, NY-Just a short ride from Suffolk County awaits the Strong Island Sound on Saturday, December 9th. They will head west on the Belt Parkway to Exit 8 and enter Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn to take on their gotham rivals, the Brooklyn Wonders. Following that, the will go further west to visit Maryland and face the Nighthawks on Sunday, December 10th.

Strong Island is currently on a three-game winning streak and in first place in the Blue Central division with a 7-3 record. They defeated Brooklyn 113-111 in their only other meeting this season on November 10th, Strong Island's home opener. Brooklyn, 2-3 in their inaugural ABA season, will look to avenge the earlier loss to the Sound and reestablish the rivalry that the Sound enjoyed in 2005-06 with the Harlem Strong Dogs. "The Battle of the Belt" will continue throughout the season, as these two clubs will meet four more times following this weekend.

Another battle will take place when the Sound face the Nighthawks. So far this season, this series has been a stalemate. On November 19th, Strong Island won 131-123 in Maryland. Five days later, the Nighthawks defeated the Sound at Suffolk Community College in overtime, 147-144. Maryland is currently 5-5 and in second place in the division. They will look to close the gap and pick up a full game on the Sound.
