The 3rd Annual Dine with a Dodger

July 23, 2004 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Vero Beach Devil Rays News Release

In what has become an annual fund-raising favorite, the Vero Beach Dodgers are announcing their 3rd Annual Dine with a Dodger to raise money for the Hibiscus Children's Center. Beginning with Dodger home games on July 24th and continuing through August 7th, fans can bid on their favorite player, with the winning bids being announced during the seventh-inning stretch of the August 7th game against the Palm Beach Cardinals. On the first day of bidding, the Dodgers will have a table set up in the stadium with forms for fans to bid on a player and restaurant of their choice. At each table, a sheet of paper will reflect both the minimum and current high bid so fans know what they are bidding against.

The winners will receive a certificate to a local restaurant along with a player to take to lunch or dinner with them. The certificates will cover the costs for two people at each restaurant. Among the restaurants included are Bobby's Carrabba's, The Patio, Applebee's, Mulligan's, and the Lakes at Pointe West. The names of the participating players will be announced this Saturday.

This year, all funds will go to the Hibiscus Children's Center. The Hibiscus Children's Center is a non-profit organization that is successfully breaking the vicious cycle of child abuse with the support of the local community. The mission of Hibiscus is to provide services to children and families on the Treasure Coast in an effort to prevent and reduce child abuse and neglect. Founded in 1985, Hibiscus has served over 15,000 children and 6,000 families caught in the deadly cycle of abuse.
