Daytona Tortugas News Release


I. The Daytona Cubs and the Tampa Yankees have been declared co-champions for the 2004 season. The Championship series was forced to be canceled due to the impending Hurricane Ivan. The Daytona Cubs reached the finals by virtue of their Eastern Division Championship – in a 2-0 series win over the Vero Beach Dodgers. This championship concludes the most successful season in Daytona Cubs history – as the Cubs set a franchise attendance record, won the Florida State League Championship and had the Florida State League's MVP in 1st baseman Brandon Sing.

II. 1st baseman Brandon Sing was named the Florida State League MVP for the 2004 season. Sing finished the season with 32 homeruns, 94 RBIs, and a .270 batting average. IV. There will be a season ticket holder World Series party in the Daytona Cubs home clubhouse on Tuesday, the 26th of October at 7:00PM. This is for all season ticket holders and anyone that is interested in purchasing season tickets for the 2005 campaign. Come watch the World Series and get some free drinks and grub. The 26th of October is also the last day to put your deposit down to renew your seats from 2004. 2005 season tickets and game-packs will go on sale to the general public on October 27th.

V. Finally, Cubby has decided to make some charity appearances for local schools and organizations during the off-season to keep him busy. Cubby plans on bringing special prizes with him to all of his appearances. The cost of the appearance is FREE for schools and non-profit organizations.
