Vancouver Giants News Release
Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants announced that the Director of Media Relations and Video coach Jamison Derksen has decided to pursue other opportunities.
Derksen first joined the Giants as the Game Crew Volunteer back in the 17-18 season. After spending a year as a volunteer, he played an integral part of the organization in multiple roles throughout his six seasons with the Giants.
In the 18-19 season, Derksen was an intern as the Gameday Operations Coordinator. After finishing his Leadership and Management Bachelor of Business Administration Degree at the Trinity Western University, he continued to serve the Giants organization as the Office Administrator, and Events coordinator in summer of 2019 before he got promoted as the Manager of Marketing and Operations at the start of 19-20 season, which he served for three seasons.
Although Derksen played a crucial part in many aspects of marketing, he wanted to pursue his passion in hockey operations and became the Video Coach and Analyst at the start of 21-22 season.
After being promoted as the Director of Media Relations at the start of the 22-23 season, Derksen served as both Video Coach and Director of Media Relations.
"Jamison has played a significant role in creating an environment in the organization enjoyed by players, staff, and fans," Vice President Peter Toigo said.
"The Vancouver Giants would like to thank Jamison for his contributions to the Giants. We all wish him the best in his future endeavours," General Manager Barclay Parneta added.
