Texas Rangers Release Inaugural High Desert Mavericks Roster

ADELANTO, Calif. - The Texas Rangers have included twenty-five players on their inaugural roster for the High Desert Mavericks, who this off season made the affiliation switch from the Seattle Mariners (Bakersfield Blaze). This group of Rangers' prospects will seek a fifth straight Advanced A playoff berth in their first year of playing in the California League.

"As we enter our 25 th season in the High Desert" said Ben Hemmen, Mavericks General Manager, "we are thrilled to be a part of the Texas Rangers organization. Fans can expect high quality baseball to be played at Heritage Field this summer. The prospects on this roster are developing into some of the best in all of Minor League Baseball."

Anchoring the fourteen pitcher for the Mavericks will be former 3 rd round pick David Ledbetter along with his identical twin brother, Ryan Ledbetter. Joining the Ledbetter brothers will be Cody Ege, Pat Kaminska, Cody Kendall, Aliangel Lopez, Shane McCain, Luis Parra, Richelson Pena, Ryne Slack, Tyler Smith, Justin Sprenger, Jose Valdespina and Cole Wiper.

Headlining the eleven position players will be three former first round picks with on e of them being Catcher, Kellin Deglan. Joining Kellin behind the plate are Alex Burg and David Lyon.

A theme has developed in the infield this season as Ryan Cordell and Even Van Hoosier, both top 30 prospects, will make the transition from outfield to infield this s eason . While both served as Centerfielders last year, Cordell will move to Shortshop and Van Hoosier to Second Base. Preston Beck, Luis Marte and Seth Spivey fill in the rest of the diamond.

Patrolling the outfield for the Mavericks will be former first rounder and Top 10 prospect, Lewis Brinson, Zach Cone and Joe Jackson. Joe is a distant relative of "Shoeless" Joe Jackson. It might have taken twenty-five years but if you build it, "he" will come!

The first chance to see the 2015 High Desert Mavericks is on Opening Night, Thursday, April 16 at 6:35pm against the Lancaster JetHawks.
