RICHMOND, VA - (Monday, May 12, 2003) - Richmond Kickers rookie midfielder/forward David Testo has been called to join the roster of the U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team for an international friendly against Mexico. The game will take place in Guadalajara, Mexico on Wednesday, May 14th at a time and venue to be determined.

The roster will also include 2002 World Cup stars Landon Donovan and DaMarcus Beasley. Testo was originally the first alternate on the roster for this match. He was called up due to an injury this past weekend to Dallas Burn forward Eddie Johnson.

The U-23s have gathered just once so far in 2003, posting a 1-1-3 record on a two-week trip to Portugal in January. The U.S. was 1-1-1 in a three-game series against reserve teams from the Portuguese First Division before posting a pair of hard-fought 1-1 draws with Portugal and Russia as part of the Vale de Tejo International Tournament. After beating Russia 4-3 in penalties, the U.S. fell 3-1 in the PK shootout to the host nation to finish second in the four-team tournament.

The U.S. Under-23 MNT will begin qualifying for the 2004 Olympics in November, as they enter the tournament in the second round and will face the winner of a first-round match-up between the tiny nations of St. Kitts & Neves and Dominica, who will meet in a home-and-home series in September and October.

"We wish David all the best with the National Team," says Kickers Vice President and General Manager Billy Hallock. "Obviously it is a great honor to the club when a player is called in to represent his country."

The roster for the U-23 US/Mexico game will include: DaMarcus Beasley (Chicago Fire), Kyle Beckerman (Colorado Rapids), Brian Carroll (DC United), Ricardo Clark (NY/NJ MetroStars), DJ Countess (Dallas Burn), Landon Donovan (San Jose Earthquakes), Alecko Eskandarian (DC United), Kelly Gray (Chicago Fire), Nate Jaqua (Chicago Fire), Ricky Lewis (LA Galaxy), Kyle Martino (Columbus Crew), Oguchi Onyewu (FC Metz (France)), Logan Pause (Chicago Fire), David Stokes (DC United), David Testo (Richmond Kickers (A-League)), Doug Warren (DC United), Chris Wingert (St. John's University), Alexander Yi (Royal Antwerp FC (Belgium).
