Terry Emmert and the Portland Chinooks Are Back in the International Basketball League

Terry W. Emmert is proud to announce the return of the Portland Chinooks to the International Basketball League (IBL). Mr. Emmert guided the Portland Chinooks from their inception in 2005, through their 2008 season. During the 2007 season, the Portland Chinooks won the Western Division, went 20-7 and in fact, played in Indiana for the International Basketball League championship. Terry Emmert has agreed to lease the name ‚¬ËœPortland Chinooks ‚¬â„¢ to Terrance Dickens starting immediately. Emmert International will again be supporting the Portland Chinooks and rooting them on to another run at the IBL Championship. Terry Emmert invites the basketball fans in the Portland Metropolitan area to rejoin the Portland Chinooks in another exciting season of IBL basketball.

Head Coach Terrance Dickens ‚¬"believes that with a lot of key acquisitions and 4 players coming to Portland from around the nation ‚¬"that ‚¬Å“the Chinooks will have a championship level season ‚¬Â. The players on the following page have indicated that they will play for the Portland Chinooks in 2011. Dickens believes that this year will be the most interesting to date in that he has ‚¬Å“ten players at the Division 1 overseas level and/or NBDL or above level ‚¬Â. You can watch the team tonight at Cascade College on 91st and SE Burnside in Portland; the official team kickoff ‚¬"the official 1st home game is on May 12th .

Portland Chinooks 2011 roster should include the following 8 local players and 4 out of town players:

1. 6' 8'' forward David Lucas will be in his fifth season with the IBL, Lucas led the IBL in scoring with 37 ppg in both 2007 & 2008. Lucas was a two-time All-PAC 10 performer for the Oregon State Beavers (2004/2005) before moving on to a professional career. Lucas led the IBL in scoring in 2007 and 2008 (37.0 ppg in 2008). David is son of former NBA great Maurice Lucas.

2. Robert Day (6' 4'') ‚¬" Western Oregon. Day is a star player in the Mexican league, the top league there, recently having been named to the All Star game. Day was a star player at Western Oregon and has played professionally, internationally over the last 6 years.

3. JS Nash (6' 2'') - Oregon State. JS is considered one of the best two-guards in the IBL.

4. Lamar Hurd (6' 4'') - Oregon State. Hurd is well known for his play for the Oregon State Beavers- a 4 year starter for Oregon State.

5. Josh Tarver (6 ‚¬â„¢ 4 ‚¬Â)- point guard Oregon State University

6. David Jackson (6' 5'') ‚¬" Oregon. Jackson finished his collegiate career at the University of Oregon. A veteran of NBA camps (Portland, Cleveland), and NBA summer league teams (Portland, San Antonio, Orlando, Seattle), Jackson also has extensive experience overseas in Italy, China, Spain and Turkey. 7. Mike Johnson (6' 6" ‚¬â„¢) - a forward from Oregon State; IBL 2009 averaged 11 points and 5.6 rebounds.

8. Isaiah Fox (6 ‚¬â„¢ 9 ‚¬Â) - a forward from University of Arizona The Chinooks also have a few out of town players on the team as well

9. 6 ‚¬â„¢ 11 ‚¬Â Center- Lester Ferguson- from Robert Morris University

10. 6 ‚¬â„¢ 4 ‚¬Â Guard- Quentin Patin- from University of Toledo

11. 6 ‚¬â„¢ 7 ‚¬Â Forward- Jermaine Blackburn- from Boise State, played in the NBD-league

12. 5' 10'' Terrence Whiters, who last played with the New York Knicks Summer League team and is currently playing overseas at the Division 1 level.

Bonus feature, at 6:00pm ‚¬"at each Chinooks home game: the Portland Chinooks will host a women ‚¬â„¢s semi-professional level game at 6pm game prior to each Chinooks home game. Each week, a different opponent will be brought in to play against the Portland Energy. Remember the days of the Portland Power & the Portland Fire; now is the time to support the Portland Energy as they play against teams from California, Canada, Washington & Oregon. The first home game for the Chinooks is May 12th ‚¬" so ‚¬"the Portland Energy will play at 6:00pm that night. An official ‚¬"Portland Energy media night will occur on Thursday May 12th at the Beaverton Hoop/YMCA from 7pm till 8pm. Interested parties are welcome to attend this media night and the game of course. The women will be available for interview immediately after the women ‚¬â„¢s game ends (game will run from 6pm - 7:30pm).
