Portland Chinooks News Release
PORTLAND - The mid-season woes continued for the Portland Chinooks on Tuesday night at Eastmoreland Courts as they fell to Salem for the second time in as many weeks. The 110-99 defeat is the team's third straight, and fourth in the past six, dropping their record to 7-5.
It was another sluggish start for Portland, trailing 18-11 at the midway point of the first quarter before a 13-2 spurt gave the home team the lead and momentum to finish out the period with a six-point advantage. Things seemed to be under control when the Chinooks took their largest lead of 47-35 with just over 5:00 before the half. But a 17-6 run by Salem had the game near even with Portland leading just barely, 53-52 at the break.

Portland head coach Trevor Kiser benched his starters for nine plus minutes of the period and still had the lead by three headed to the final period. Things quickly headed up early in the fourth with 33 points scored in the first four minutes. But that's when it went south for the Chinooks. They fell down by fourteen in a hurry and failed to reach triple digits for just the second time this season.
Portland now sits three and a half games back of first place Bellingham, and one behind Vancouver, who they had a chance to tie for second. As it is, the Chinooks sit in third with five games left.
The team welcomed back Germain Jordan from a one-game absence. He delivered with a near triple- double effort of 20 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. Jared Cunningham hit for 16 scores. Kevin Ford returned to his home gym and brought 13 points and nine rebounds. Also in double figures were Jermaine Blackburn with 12 and Antwan Williams had 11.
Vinnie McGhee hit five three-pointers on his way to a game-high 32 points for the Salem Sabres (2-4).
Terrance Glynn added a double-double of 23 points and 20 rebounds. Same for Frantz Dorsainvill, 18 points and 17 rebounds.
