PORTLAND, Ore. - Playing the final 45 minutes of the match down a player, the Portland Timbers pulled a goal back early in the second half on a direct free kick from Bill Tuiloma but fell to the LA Galaxy by a score of 3-1 at Providence Park on Sunday afternoon. The loss ended the club's home unbeaten run at eight games as Portland suffered its first loss at home since Oct. 27, 2021.

Timbers Goals

Tuiloma tallied his second goal of the season in the match. His two goals are tied for the most on the team this season. Notably, two of Tuiloma's six career MLS goals have come directly off a free kick. As a team, Portland has scored in 19th consecutive MLS home matches, and 13 consecutive MLS matches overall.

Goal-Scoring Plays

LAG - Chicharito (Samuel Grandsir, Rayan Raveloson), 9th minute: The LA Galaxy worked the ball down the left side of the field, combining near the edge of the box. Samuel Grandsir delivered a cross to the back post for Chicharito, who found space and re-directed the ball with his right foot into the back of the net from close range.

LAG - Own goal (Bill Tuiloma), 16th minute: On the counterattack, Grandsir received the ball and dribbled down the left side of the box toward the end line. He attempted to play the ball to the near post, and it deflected off Bill Tuiloma into the goal.

POR - Bill Tuiloma, 51st minute: After winning a free kick just outside the 18-yard box, Bill Tuiloma delivered a well-placed curling strike into the top right corner of the goal direct from the kick.

LAG - Chicharito (Raheem Edwards), 59th minute: Raheem Edwards dribbled into the box and cut the ball back, slotting a pass to Chicharito, who fired a shot into the lower left corner of the goal from the middle of the box.
