Tempers Flare In Revoluton Comeback Victory Over Bees

(York, PA) - The York Revolution (10-4, 44-39) defeated the New Britain Bees (5-9, 40-43) 11-10 at PEOPLESBank Park on Friday night in the opener of a three-game weekend series in the Keystone State.
New Britain starting pitcher Akeel Morris registered a no-decision, allowing four runs (three earned runs) on five hits in four innings pitched, walking three and striking out one. York starting pitcher Corey Walker also did not factor in the game's final outcome, surrendering seven runs on ten hits (two home runs) in three and one-third innings of work, walking and striking out one. Jameson McGrane shut the door in the top of the ninth for his tenth save of the season.
New Britain took a 1-0 lead two batters into the contest courtesy of an inside-the-park home run off the bat of Zach Collier, his second roundtripper of the season. The Bees went ahead 5-0 in the top of the second thanks to a three-run home run to right centerfield by 2019 Liberty Division All-Star and an RBI double produced by Joe Poletsky. The visitors extended their advantage to 7-1 in the fourth when Moore hustled down the line from third base on a wild pitch while Bijan Rademacher plated Rando Moreno later in the frame by way of a sacrifice fly. York stormed all the way back in the last of the seventh by sending 11 men to the plate, scoring seven runs in the process as they jumped out in front for the first time on the evening 11-8, with the capper coming by way of a two-out, opposite-field, go-ahead grand slam home run to left center by Henry Castillo off Jose Rosario. The next pitch thrown to Angelys Nina by Rosario hit the former Bees infielder, resulting in both benches and bullpens storming out onto the field as Rosario was ejected from the ballgame while both dugouts and managers were issued warnings by home plate umpire Silvio Martinez. In the top of the eighth, Bijan Radmeacher was plunked on the first offering from Robert Carson and once again both teams went face to face jawing at one another on the field of play as Carson and Revolution skipper Mark Mason were tossed. After the dust settled, Mike Carp was unintentionally hit by a pitch thrown from reliever Josh Judy with the bases loaded which scored Rademacher to get New Britain to within 11-9. Rando Moreno's sacrifice fly drove in Jason Rogers to get the Bees to within a single run at 11-10 as Rogers drew his second free pass in the game, extending his on-base streak to a team-best 26 consecutive games overall. The comeback would fall just short but not without some drama as pinch-hitter Jared James followed Moreno's plate appearance with an infield single to the left side and with Jonathan Galvez at second base he tried to score the tying-run on the slow roller but was tagged out at the plate by catcher Isaias Tejeda on the throw home from first baseman Carlos Franco to end the rally, making a winner out of Julio Perez (4-1) while handing Tyler Danish (3-2) the loss. Galvez and Moore had three hits apiece.
The Bees return to New Britain Stadium on Tuesday, July 30th when they welcome the 2019 First Half Liberty Division Champion Long Island Ducks to the Hardware City for a three-game midweek series while also kicking off a six-game homestand.
