Brevard County Manatees News Release

VIERA, Fla. -- The Brevard County Manatees dropped their fourth game in a row on Sunday evening, as they were shutout by the Tampa Yankees, 6-0 at Space Coast Stadium.

Offensively, the Manatees (52-72 overall, 25-29 second half) scratched together six singles and only had two runners get past first base. Josh Prince had two of Brevard County's six hits.

Hiram Burgos started for the 'Tees and allowed six runs on 11 hits in six innings of work. Burgos ran into trouble in the second as he allowed four singles on four hits and a walk.

The Yankees (67-57, 30-25) added two more against Burgos in the sixth on a two-run homer by Rob Segedin.

The trio of Skyler Crawford, Jon Pokorny and Roque Mercedes out of the bullpen, allowed just one hit over three combined innings, but the damage had already been done.

Brevard County is now six games back of Dunedin for first place in the second half and the Manatees elimination number stands at eight.

After an off day on Monday, the 'Tees will hit the road for seven straight games. The road trip begins with a three-game series at Clearwater (67-57, 28-27), that starts on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.

Brevard County's will return home on Tuesday, August 30 at 5:05 p.m. for a doubleheader against the Threshers.
