Lubbock GunSlingers News Release
When the Lone Stars defensive line sets up across the Odessa Roughnecks offensive line Saturday night their will be a head to head collision of former Texas Tech players.
William Ritter plays offensive line for the Roughnecks, a position that he's had to learn more then a decade after lining up on the opposite side of the ball for the Red Raiders. Ritter suited up for the scarlet and black in the early nineties playing at the defensive end position.
This year a successful tryout landed the 33 year old a roster position in his hometown of Odessa. Ritter has taken that opportunity, and made it pay off. He has been mister versatility for the Roughnecks playing at almost ever big man poison this season.
This weekend he'll try to slow down one of the most productive defensive fronts in the IFL, which is lead by Gathan McGinnis and Rodney McKinney, two former Texas Tech standouts.
While the threesome never enjoyed playing on the same field at the same time, it will be a reunion of sorts. McGinnis says, "It's always nice to run into a former Red Raider, it's also nice running over them."
We'll see which era of Texas Tech Football wins out when the Roughnecks and the Lone Stars kickoff this weekends game in Odessa Saturday night.
