
Team Blue Defeats Team White in Overtime 5-4

Kennewick, WA- In a thrilling game to end Rookie Camp, Team Blue came back from a 4-1 deficit, winning in overtime on a Paycen Bjorklund goal, 5-4.
Korbyn Chabot recorded three assists for Team White while Brett Leason had a game-high two goals for Team Blue.
The scoring started early in the first period as Landon Fuller tapped home a rebound in front of the net to put White ahead 1-0. Less than two minutes later, Jack Graham found the twine to put White up by two goals. Team Blue had the shot advantage in the first period, 10-9, but couldn't find the back of the net as White led 2-0 after the first.
Team Blue came out strong to start the second period and cut the lead to 2-1 after Brett Leason fired a wrist shot top shelf. White answered a few minutes later with a goal from Issac Benoit to increase the lead to 3-1. Midway through the second, Keltie Jeri-Leon scored a beautiful goal, increasing White's advantage to 4-1. Team Blue answered four minutes later, as Jack Barnes showed some quick hands and tucked the puck into the net. Team White's edge was cut to 4-3 heading into the third period on a goal in the final minute of the period by Dylan Soosay.
In the third, Team Blue was firing pucks at the net trying to get the tying goal. Leason tallied his second of the game on the power play to even the score at four midway through the third. Team Blue had 20 shots in the period, but couldn't win the game in regulation.
A 3-on-3 overtime session was needed to determine a winner. Paycen Bjorklund skated to the slot and fired a wrist shot past Sammy Megna to give Team Blue a 5-4 win.
The Americans will begin Main Camp starting Monday, Aug. 31. The Preseason begins this Friday, Sept. 4, at the Everett Preseason Tournament, with Tri-City facing Seattle at 11:30 a.m. at Xfinity Arena. The Red Lion Hotels Pre-Season Tournament will be at the Toyota Center starting on Wednesday, Sept. 9 through Saturday, Sept. 12. Tickets can be purchased at the Americans office or at the Toyota Center Box Office.
