Indianapolis Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that forward Andrew Taylor was taken in the CHL Expansion Draft that took place this week at the league meetings in Phoenix, Arizona. Expansion clubs Colorado (Eagles) and Rio Grande Valley (Killer Bees) were each allowed to select five players.
Taylor, 26, was selected in the third round of the draft by the Rio Grande Killer Bees, a team coached by former IHL Ice forward Tracy Egeland. Taylor was one of Indy's five veterans from last season and recorded 37 points (13G, 24A), seven power play goals and 63 penalty minutes in 59 games of work. He added five points (2G, 3A) in eight playoff contests.
"We didn't want to lose anybody to this type of situation, but ultimately that can happen" said Ice Head Coach Ken McRae. "Andrew was a great character and team guy for us last season and we will miss him.
