Lubbock Cotton Kings News Release
LUBBOCK, TX: June 6, 2003 â Chris Due, the Director of Broadcasting/Media Relations and Marketing for the Central Hockey League's Lubbock Cotton Kings, is resigning from his position with the Cotton Kings to accept the same position with the CHL's inaugural Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees.
"This is by far the toughest decision that I have had to make, but this was a personal decision," said Due. "My wife has not been able to achieve her career goals in Lubbock, because the education field in the medical industry she is seeking is not offered in the South Plains area, so this move gives me an opportunity to remain working in hockey and help build a successful organization in Rio Grande Valley and gives my wife an opportunity to achieve her career goals and spend more time with our son."
Due, a 26 year-old native from Fort Worth, Texas has been with the Cotton Kings since their inception in 1999 and handled all aspects of the teams broadcasting and media relations efforts. He earned a spot on the WPHL's All-Star Broadcast Crew for the 2000 WPHL All-Star Game and was named the 2001 WPHL "PR Executive of the Year." Due was a finalist for the CHL "Broadcaster of the Year" honor this past season. The Oklahoma Christian University graduate leaves Lubbock with five years of professional broadcast experience and 9 years of experience working in professional sports.
"I have truly been blessed to be associated with some great people in Lubbock," said Due. "Mark Adams, who hired me, my wife's employer, our church family, my co-workers, the local media members, and the Cotton Kings fans have all combined together to give my family some great memories and friendships that I hope to carry the rest of my life. Since my son Major was born here, I'll always carry a part of Lubbock with me."
