
Tavares Named OHL Player of the Week

Toronto - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Oshawa Generals forward John Tavares is the player of the week for the week ending January 28, 2007. Tavares scored six goals and four assists totaling 10 points for the week. He also finished the week with a plus seven rating in three games.
On Thursday January 25, Tavares scored four goals and added three assists in a 9-6 road victory over the Windsor Spitfires. Tavares was named the game's first star for his efforts. The four goals allowed the 16-year-old center to reach the 50 goal plateau in only 44 games. The next night Tavares once again led the way for the Generals scoring two goals and adding one assist in a 5-4 road loss to the Saginaw Spirit.
The Oakville, Ontario native currrently leads the Ontario Hockey League with 52 goals and 46 assists totaling 98 points in 46 games this season.
