Tavares Lands Week 10 Awards

BUFFALO, N.Y. (March 7, 2007) --The National Lacrosse League announced Wednesday that Buffalo's John Tavares was named Offensive and Overall Player of the Week for Week 10 of the NLL season.

Tavares collected nine points on five goals and four assists to lead Buffalo to a 16-15 win at Minnesota on Sunday. In two meeting's with the Swarm this season, the NLL's all-time leading scorer has notched eight goals and 14 assists. He is also tied with Rochester's John Grant for the league lead in scoring with 69 points (30+39), and will captain the East Division in Saturday's All-Star Game in Portland.

This marks the fifth weekly award for Tavares this season after being named Offensive Player of the Week in Weeks Four and Seven, and Overall Player of the Week in Week Seven.

The Weekly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the general managers and head coaches of the league's 13 member clubs.
