Lough named NLL Defensive Player of the Week

GLENDALE, AZ --- The National Lacrosse League announced today that Arizona Sting Captain Peter Lough has been named the league's Defensive Player of the Week for Week #10 of the season. The award comes in recognition of Peter's strong performance in Arizona's 11-7 win over the Chicago Shamrox on Friday, March 2 at Jobing.com Arena.

"I think our whole defense deserves to share this award with me," said Lough. "Everyone played exceptionally well last weekend and I think it's definitely a sign of good things to come for the rest of the season."

Against the Shamrox last weekend, Lough won an amazing 17 of his 22 face-off attempts and led all Sting defenseman with eight loose balls in the match. "The Punisher" was also instrumental in helping Arizona's defense hold Chicago to seven goals scored - the lowest totals in Shamrox history.

Lough will be in the starting lineup for the West Division at the 2007 NLL All-Star Game, scheduled to take place in Portland, Oregon this Saturday, March 10, at 8:00pm MST. The 32-year old will be serving as the elite squad's Assistant Captain and will be joined on the floor by Sting teammates Dan Dawson and Rob Blasdell. The game can be seen live on B2 Networks (www.B2now.com) and a replay of the match will be shown on VERSUS on Sunday afternoon at 12:30pm MST.
