
Tatu Becomes Indoor Soccer's Second All-time Leading Scorer

DALLAS - Tatu scored one goal and had two assists to pass Zoran Karic for second all-time in points, but the Dallas Sidekicks lost to the San Diego Sockers 11-10 at Reunion Arena on Saturday night.
Tatu tied now has 852 goals and 723 assists for 1575 points. Karic finished his career with 1,573 on 752 goals and 821 assists. Tatu tied Karic with a goal 4:21 into the first quarter when he gave the Sidekicks a 2-0 lead. Tatu then took sole possession of second with his assist of Nick Stavrou at 14:29 of the second. Hector Marinaro of Cleveland is the all-time leader with 1,886 points.
The Sidekicks (6-19) were unable to rally from an 11-8 third quarter deficit even though they had nine shots in the final quarter. David Doyle did find the net to pull Dallas within a point at 4:06 of the fourth. San Diego (11-16) managed to stop the final seven Dallas shots, including three in the final minute.
San Diego took the 11-8 lead with third quarter goals from Carlos Farias and Paul Wright. Before that, Dallas had an 8-7 edge after consecutive goals by Stavrou and Larry Dube.
The Sidekicks jumped out to a 4-0 lead on goals by Tatu and Armando Valdivia in the first 6:47 of the game. San Diego then scored seven unanswered points that started with a penalty kick from Mariano Bollella at 11:47 of the opening stanza. Jimmy Wang followed with a three-pointer at 13:32 before and Farias found the net 57 seconds into the second.
The Sidekicks are on the road for the next three games. Dallas plays at Kansas City (11-12) Friday February 7 at 8:05 p.m. and at Philadelphia (18-5) Saturday February 8 at 6:35 p.m. The Sidekicks next home game at Reunion Arena is against the Cleveland Force (12-11) Sunday February 16 at 6:05 p.m.
