
Tarnok Delivers Five Strong Innings, M-Braves' Comeback Falls Short as Biscuits Walk off 2-1

MONTGOMERY, AL - RHP Freddy Tarnok delivered five innings of one-run ball, but the Mississippi Braves (29-38) fell 2-1 to the Montgomery Biscuits (26-34) on a walk-off groundball on Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
Down 1-0 in the ninth, Justin Dean walked then stole a base to get into scoring position. Yariel Gonzalez deposited a two-out, two-strike double into the right field corner to score Justin Dean and tie the game 1-1.
Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
In the bottom of the ninth, Roberto Alvarez grounded a ball to Gonzalez at short. He tried to get the winning run at home plate but threw side as Kameron Misner scored and the Biscuits walked off 2-1.
Tarnok struck out five with no walks and gave up six hits. Atlanta's No. 9 prospect holds a 4.88 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 51 2/3 innings. The right-hander gave up two runs in his last 10 innings.
RHP Taj Bradley tossed six shutout innings, giving up just two hits. He leads the Southern League with a 1.82 ERA and is currently the No. 3 prospect for Tampa Bay.
The M-Braves bullpen picked up right where they left off after four scoreless innings last night.
RHP Troy Bacon retired six of seven in two scoreless innings. Bacon dropped to a 3.27 ERA in 33 innings this season.
RHP Odalvi Javier struck out two batters in a 1-2-3 eighth inning before giving up the unearned run in the ninth. Javier has allowed no earned runs in his last eight outings, going 9 2/3 innings with 10 strikeouts in those appearances.
The M-Braves had a chance to tie the game in the eighth with Gonzalez in scoring position, but he was thrown out at the plate after a base hit by Andrew Moritz.
Moritz extended his hitting streak to eight games. He is hitting .322 with four RBI over those eight games. The outfielder posted a 10-game hit streak from May 18 to May 30 this season.
The fifth game of the series is on Saturday at Riverwalk Stadium. RHP Darius Vines (3-4, 5.37) makes the start for Mississippi against LHP John Doxakis (0-1, 6.61) for Montgomery.
