YESTERDAY'S NEWS: The Tarpons grabbed a 3-1 lead in the 8th, but the Threshers rallied for three late runs to steal a 4-3 win...RHP Albert Abreu scattered six singles across 5.0 shutout frames (0BB, 6K, 1HB)...Brandon Wagner (2-for-3, HR, BB, RBI, R) broke a scoreless tie with a solo homer in the 4th (his 12th HR)...RHP Hobie Harris (BS, 1) allowed a game-tying homer in the 6th (1.0IP, 3H, 1ER)...Alexander Palma (1-for-3, HBP, RBI, R, SB) hit a go-ahead RBI single in the 8th and later scored on a two-out double by Isiah Gilliam (2-for-4, 2B, RBI)...Clearwater loaded the bases with a walk, hit-batter and infield single in the 8th and RHP Andrew Schwaab (H, 2)(L, 0-2) walked in a run (0.1IP, 1H, 2ER, 1BB, 1K)...after a 53-minute rain delay, RHP Matt Wivnis (BS, 1) walked in the tying run before yielding a go-ahead RBI single (0.2IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 1K)...Tampa stranded runners on the corners in the 9th.

LET'S GO STREAKING: Isiah Gilliam (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) singled in the 4th to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. In that span, the 21-year-old is batting .350 (14-for-40) with 2HR and 6RBI. Gilliam previously had a 10-game hit streak between April 9th-20th, which included seven multi-hit games.

STILL ALIVE: Tampa is fighting to win the 1st-Half Florida State League North Division Title for the third-straight season. The Tarpons (34-32) currently trail Daytona (35-28) by 2.5 games and Lakeland (34-29) by 0.5 a game. Tampa has four games remaining in the first half (1 @ CLR / 3 @ FTM) while the Tortugas (1 @ STL / 3 vs. PMB) have four remaing and Flying Tigers (2 vs. JUP / 4 @ CHA) have six left.

(WHIT)LOCKED IN: In four starts since joining the Tarpons, RHP Garrett Whitlock is 2-0 with a 0.96 ERA. The 21-year-old has held opponents to 2ER in 18.2IP since being promoted from Single-A Charleston. Along the way, Whitlock has tallied 21 strikeouts while yielding just five walks.

VS. CLEARWATER: Tonight will be the seventh of 15 scheduled meetings between the Tampa Tarpons and Clearwater Threshers. Clearwater currently leads the season-series, 4-2. The Tarpons took two-of-three when the teams first met in Tampa on 4/20-22.

WAGNER TO COMPETE IN HOME RUN DERBY: Tampa All-Star Brandon Wagner has decided to compete in the Home Run Derby in front of the home crowd on Friday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Other participants will include: Taylor Trammell (Daytona), Mitch Nay (Daytona), Travis Blankenhorn (Fort Myers), Jaylin Davis (Fort Myers) and Andy Young (Palm Beach). The derby will kickoff All-Star Weekend on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

ROSA NAMED REPLACEMENT ALL-STAR: The Florida State League announced on Tuesday that RHP Adonis Rosa has been named a replacement all-star. Rosa becomse the ninth Tarpons player named a Mid-Season All-Star. RHP Trevor Stephan, RHP MIchael King, RHP David Sosebee and C Francisco Diaz were originally named despite having been promoted to Double-A Trenton. Current Tampa players RHP Nick Green, LHP Trevor Lane, and INF Diego Castillo were also originally named. INF Brandon Wagner was later added as a replacement.

Neither the original Tarpons nor the Tampa Yankees had ever hosted the event. FOR STARTERS: RHP Garrett Whitlock (2-0, 0.96) will make his fifth start with Tampa...Last time out, earned the win vs. Bradenton on 6/9 (5.0IP, 5H, 1ER, 1BB, 3K, HB, 90P/53S)...Spent time on the disabled list (5/26-6/3) after getting hit by a comebacker in a start at Florida on 5/25...Began the season with Single-A Charleston, going 2-2 with a 1.13 ERA (40.0IP, 23H, 5ER, 1HR, 2HB, 7BB, 44K) in seven starts with the RiverDogs...held opponents scoreless for 26-straight innings between his third start 4/17 and his seventh start on 5/11...left Charleston ranked second in the South Atlantic League in ERA and WHIP (0.75).

2017: Made his professional debut between the GCL Yankees West and Rookie-level Pulaski, combining to go 1-0 with a 3.77 ERA (14.1IP, 14H, 7R/6ER, 0BB, 22K, 1HR) in five games (three starts)...began the season in the GCL, recording 14K in 8.2IP over three starts (4H, 2R/1ER)...finished the year with two relief appearances at Pulaski (1-0, 7.94 ERA, 5.2IP, 5ER).
