Tulsa Talons News Release

Tulsa, OK- The Tulsa Talons of the arenafootball2 League, Remington Elementary and Lindburgh Elementary are teaming up together for a special reading project. Talons players, cheerleaders and mascot will be at Remington Elementary (2424 W. 53rd Street) for their 8:45 a.m. Rise and Shine Assembly and will then go to Lindburgh Elementary (931 S. 89th East) following the assembly on Wednesday, April 30th.

On behalf of "The Bookworms", a group participating in the LEARN (Learning, Education and Research Network) Academy, Talons representatives will be passing out approximately 400 goodie bags filled with fun pads, crayons, bookmarks, math flash cards, tongue twister pencils, and a book.

Talons players and cheerleaders will read books to the children, as well as emphasize the importance of reading to their daily lives, as they continue on their road to education.

"We are participating in both assemblies in hopes of inspiring students and imparting to them how important reading is - how it affects everything they do," said Susie Weinacht, Talons' director of community relations.

For more information about the Talons appearance at Remington and Lindburgh Elementaries, or other community relations projects involving the Talons, contact Weinacht at the Talons office at 664-4453.
