Tulsa Talons News Release
The af2 League Office has officially assigned WR Kellen Allen, to the Tulsa Talons for the 2008 season. Allen, (6-2, 195 lbs), joins the Talons for his second year of arena ball. He spent the 2007 season with the Green Bay Blizzard of the af2.
As a part of the 9-7 Blizzard, Allen recorded 58 receptions for 760 yards, playing in 10 regular season games. On the defensive side, he had 8.5 total tackles (7 solo) and 1 pass breakup.
"Kellen is an exceptional receiver who understands the game and makes play after play. When we played against Green Bay last season he did not play in the game, but I knew from watching him on tape during previous games, he was definitely one of the best receivers in our league. His combination of size and speed will be a real asset for our offense in 2008," said Head Coach Mitch Allner.
Prior to his professional football career, he was an active receiver on the Saluki roster, playing college ball at Southern Illinois as a walk on.
Allen played and started in all 12 games his senior year as a Saluki, where he ranked fifth on the team in catches (17) and third in receiving TDs (3). His career stats include; 32 receptions for 382 yards and 4 touchdowns. Allen attended High School in Springfield MO, where he was the class 4A State Champion in the high jump, and an All-State basketball player.
