Abbotsford Heat News Release
As the Abbotsford Heat get ready to take on the Manitoba Moose, we focus on players and coaches and how these two teams match up. Today's tale of the tape sees us compare Greg Nemisz and Cody Hodgson. Both players were drafted in the first round of the 2008 NHL draft, Hodgson 10th and Nemisz 25th.
Their stats and accolades are nearly identical, except that Hodgson has had more press since his draft day back in 2008, when Vancouver GM Mike Gillis drafted Hodgson ahead of BC boy and Cam Neely prototype Kyle Beach. Since then, Hodgson has been compared and scrutinized at every turn.
Nemisz was drafted behind Hodgson as well, and these two players have had a constant anything you can do I can do better rivalry. Hodgson was the 2009 CHL Player of the Year and has led Canada to two World Junior Gold Medals, while Nemisz was part of the Silver Medal winning squad for Canada in 2010. However, Nemisz has two championships of his own, as he helped the Windsor Spitfires become the first CHL team in over a decade to win back to back Memorial Cup Champions.
Nemisz and Hodgson have nearly identical stats. Nemisz has scored 248 pts in Junior, Hodgson 243. Hodgson has scored thirteen points so far in Manitoba this season, Nemisz twelve, and both players lead their teams in scoring.
Here is the tale of the tape between Greg Nemisz and Cody Hodgson:
