Take The Kookamonga Challenge
February 5, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release
(Southaven, MS) -- If you've got a big appetite, bring it to the RiverKings games on February 21st, March 14th, or March 21st and take the "Kookamonga Challenge."
In partnership with the Kooky Canuck restaurant in downtown Memphis, the Kookamonga Challenge Giant Burger Eating Contest will come to the RiverKings' games on those dates, when the RiverKings take on the Wichita Thunder (February 21st), Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (March 14th), and Tulsa OIlers (March 21st).
At each game, three contestants will be selected to attempt to eat a Kooky Canuck Kookamonga, a delicious seven-pound burger. Contestants who can do that within one hour will win prizes from Kooky Canuck and have their pictures placed in the Kooky Canuck Hall of Fame!
To be eligible to take part, participants may volunteer the night of the game, or pre-register by emailing joey@riverkings.com ahead of the date they want to participate in.
In addition, fans may pledge financial support to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital or other charities in the name of their favorite Kookamonga Challenge contestant, using forms available at the RiverKings Fan Services booth, or at other locations in the DeSoto Civic Center each night of the challenge. If their contestant finishes the 7-lb. burger in an hour, or comes closest to finishing it, then they pay the pledged amount as a donation to the charity.
