February 5, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (February 5)- Following the announcement of earning the League's Player of the Month for January, Brahmas forward Scott Sheppard has been named last month's winner of the Oakley Three Star Award.

The Three Star Award is rewarded to the player with the most points in the "Three Star" category in a single month. Following all games in the Central Hockey League (CHL), the top three players in the game are selected as the three stars. The first star receives 5 points, second 3 points and third 1 point.

Sheppard earned 20 points (1st star-1 time, 2nd star-5 times) in January as the Brahmas went 12-1-1. He earned his first star Saturday night when he posted two goals, including the game winner in overtime over the Tulsa Oilers.

The Brahmas made a roster move yesterday sending rookie forward Marc Belanger to the Wichita Thunder for future considerations. Belanger played 43 games with Texas tallying 16 points (10 goals, 6 assists).

Also, the National Hockey League's (NHL) Nashville Predators cancelled their practice at the NYTEX Sports Centre originally scheduled for Saturday, February 7.
