Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

After going 62-34 in the regular season, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks watched their dreams of a Northern League Championship float away with an 11-5 loss in front of 1,852 fans at Newman Outdoor Field. The Kansas City T-Bones swept the RedHawks 3-0 after winning the first two games in Kansas City earlier this week.

The T-Bones jumped on the RedHawks early taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. With the bases loaded and no outs, it looked like a bumpy road ahead for the RedHawks. They were able to get two quick outs before 2B Bo Hart hit a two-run single to left-center.

T-Bones slugger, 1B Ken Harvey, nailed a solo shot off Billy Weitzman over the left-center wall in the third to put Kansas City up 3-0. Weitzman faced one more batter in the third before Mike Peschel relieved him. The T-Bones continued to roll in the fourth inning when RF Greg Jacobs hit a two-run double off Peschel giving the T-Bones a commanding 5-0 lead. Harvey followed by crushing a two-run homer off the scoreboard, his second of the night.

With bases loaded and no outs in the sixth, DH Jim Fasano hit a two-run single up the middle off Donnie Smith, the fourth RedHawks pitcher of the night. With a near double play in motion, Harvey advanced and scored on a throwing error by SS Jeremiah Piepkorn to Smith at first which put the T-Bones up 10-0 and weakened the RedHawks hopes to advance in the playoffs.

RF Steve Mortimer put his team on the board in the bottom of the sixth with a solo shot over the right field wall. The T-Bones were quick to reply with an RBI double by Jacobs in the seventh, his second of the night. The RedHawks were able to manufacture four runs off Andy Shipman in the ninth, but it wasn't enough as they fell to the T-Bones 11-5.

The T-Bones will now face the winner of the series between Gary and Winnipeg. Gary currently leads 2-1 in the series.
