Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- The Kansas City T-Bones had already taken the lead on an RBI triple by Brandon Jones in the top of the eighth, and had runners at first and third with one out, and Justin Bass at the plate against lefty Ronnie Morales. Bass lined a one-hopper to second, and Bridger Hunt flipped the ball to Yasutsugu Nishimoto, who relayed to first for an apparent inning-ending double play. But third-base umpire Dan Kily ruled that Nishimoto did not touch the base, allowing Jones' run to count as the T-Bones went up 4-2. AirHogs manager Ricky VanAsselberg was ejected for the second time in a week following an argument with Kily, but that run loomed large as the AirHogs got one back in the eighth and lost 4-3 in front of a big crowd of 5,981 at QuikTrip Park.

Grand Prairie (5-4) took the lead on a Chris McMurray single in the second, but then T-Bones starter Matt Mitchell (1-1) retired 11 straight AirHogs as Kansas City (4-5) continued to threaten against AirHogs starter Josh Strawn and eventually took the lead.

Kansas City had runners at third in seven straight innings - from the 1-2-3 first to closer Justin Dowdy's 1-2-3 ninth, but only scored in two of the six of Strawn, who allowed seven hits and a walk while striking out four.

Trent Lockwood hit his third home run of the year to lead off the sixth and tie the game, but that equality was relatively short-lived as the T-Bones struck back in the eighth.

After Sean Henry singled against Griffin Bailey (0-1) to start the eighth, Morales came in to face the lefty Jones, who socked a triple to right-center to give Kansas City the lead again.

While the AirHogs got one back in the bottom of the eighth on an Andres Rodriguez RBI single, Greg Porter grounded out and Brian Myrow flied out to the track to end the threat. In the ninth, Jacob Wiley worked around a two-out walk to pinch-hitter Zane Chavez to get Keanon Simon looking and pick up his second save.
