
T-Bones Lose Ninth Straight Against RailCats

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones continued their struggles against the Gary SouthShore RailCats tonight with a 15-8 loss in front of 7,046 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The loss marks the T-Bones ninth consecutive defeat against Gary.
Gary scored five in the top of the first inning off T-Bones starter Chris Shaver as they saw six straight batters reach with one out, five with hits. A two-run double from Mike Rohde capped off the frame. Shaver allowed another run in the second and another in the fourth as the RailCats took a 7-0 lead.
Gary put their first three batters on to begin the fifth with a hit batter and two singles before a three-run home run by Mike Reese chased Shaver from the contest. In his CommunityAmerica Ballpark debut, Shaver fell to 0-2 after allowing 11 runs on 13 hits over four-plus innings.
Payton Tweddale relieved Shaver and surrendered a two-run home run to Eric Blakeley to cap off a six-run fifth inning for the RailCats.
Gary tacked on two more in the top of the sixth to push their lead to 15. Kansas City finally broke through against Brian Forystek in the bottom of the sixth using a solo home run by Bo Hart and two-run blast by Jim Fasano to put the score at 15-3. The T-Bones then batted around in the seventh, scoring five runs, two earned, on five hits to cut Gary's lead to 15-8. Craig Hurba finished the scoring with a two-run single.
Forystek carried a no-hitter through four and two-thirds innings before surrendering a double to Steve Trout in the fifth. He improved to 5-6 after allowing three runs, one earned, on three hits over five and two-thirds innings.
Tweddale surrendered four runs on five hits in two innings before Andy Shipman came in for a perfect seventh. Eric Scriven took the mound in the eighth, throwing two scoreless innings to finish the game.
Every RailCat starter hit safely and scored a run in the contest. Seven of their nine starters drove in at least one run.
The five-game series continues tomorrow night as T-Bones starter Anthony Boughner faces Jeremy Plexico for the RailCats.
