T-Bones crush Sox 17-8 to eliminate Amarillo from playoff contention

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Sox suffered their worst loss of the season on Wednesday night to the Kansas City T-Bones and were eliminated from playoff contention after their 17-8 loss at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium.
Sox starter Ryan Mitchell (8-4) got the loss, allowing seven runs in three innings of work. T-Bones starter Josh Rainwater (6-10) got the win, allowing four runs in seven innings pitched.
Kansas City kicked things off with a four-run second inning off three hits and two errors. Amarillo responded with two runs in the second on a two-run homer from Patrick Arlis for a 4-2 score.
The T-Bones responded with three runs in the third, two each in the fourth and fifth, five runs in the sixth and one in the seventh. Through the seventh, Kansas City led 17-4.
Amarillo scored two runs in the eighth on three hits to cut the lead to 11 at 17-6. The Sox added two runs in the ninth to finalize the loss 17-8. The defeat knocked the Sox out of playoff contention.
With the loss, the Sox fall to 45-50 while the T-Bones improve to 48-47. Thursday, Amarillo will take on Kansas City for the third game of a four-game set at 7:05. The game can be heard on www.tbonesbaseball.com. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
